o        Logo

o        Calendar

o        (www.think.com: see point 4)

It was nice to design a logo for the project. Pupils liked this assignment and the ‘vote on think.com’ was exciting.

The calendars are really very good and interesting. We use it at the beginning of the month: we compare the calendars, talk about it in the classrooms and discuss about it with the pupils. The calendars are on a central place in the school, so all the pupils, parents and teacher can see it.

It was hard work in 1 ½ month. It’s good to start with the basic part next year in the beginning of October.

*        Remarks about the aims, the planned activities for this year and the next 2 years and the project calendar (see our application)

o        Aims:

*        Children from all the parts of Europe learn from each other and each others culture, traditions and customs by exchanging materials, contact by (new) information/communication technologies and arrange exhibitions and discuss about it. They get more conception and respect for the differences and similarities in Europe.

*        Central theme is the project is meeting. Children, teachers, parents and other concerned persons meet each other by our own website, internet, e-mail and real meetings on project-meetings.

*        Teachers and the management of the schools increase their knowledge and proficiency by exchanging developments of education en by discussing about main sticking points or problems in the schools during workshops and discussions on project-meetings.

*        Children learn to work with a digital portfolio: they report their own knowledge and tell  what they like to learn; they planned their own learning-process and collect materials and evaluate it. The teacher supervise the pupils, stimulate and support them. Themes and subjects comes from the experience-world of the children. The common language is English: children learn English and improve it.

*        We work with each other as friends: we open minds and hearts to other European countries, by which trust, solidarity and respect are important values.

We add the word digital, because we use www.think.com as a portfolio.

o        Planned activities for this year and the next two years:

The first year: 2004 – 2005  ’Se@eing each other’

Se@eing each other’ means getting to know the other partner countries and  their traditions. This will be done by means of a calendar followed by portfolio work. In the calendar we mean to include: art pictures made by pupils and special days (national days, Christmas, Easter etc.), for example.

Project meetings will be held twice every year; the first meeting in September and the second meeting in January. The first meeting will involve  the teachers of the participating countries. In this meeting the more detailed planning of the project year takes place. In  the second meeting the new application for the funding of the next project year will be made. The idea is to take some pupils to some of the project meetings, in order to enhance the mobility of the pupils and to get them better acquainted with the different school systems of the participating countries.

The second year: 2005 – 2006 ’ Se@s

The theme for the second project year is the ’Se@s’., because they are a combining factor between the partner countries. Each country has a connection to a sea and the seas also connect the countries to each other. During this year we intend to study the connecting seas, water and things connected to water eg. water sports, water in everyday life ( the weather, home: taking a shower or a bath, or going to the sauna, preparing food etc).

The third year: 2006 –2007 ’Se@eing EU’

In the third year we will deepen the knowledge of the partner countries as independent countries and as members of the European Union. What is their role in EU? Does the role of one partner in EU differ from the role of another partner and if  it does, why? We can also discuss energy and environmental issues in the different partner countries.

The construction of a project-year with a theme/subject.

BASIC

Each school makes materials for the other schools and send it to them.

Each school received materials from the other schools and they discussed about it in the lessons.

Each schools makes an exhibition of the materials.

The whole year pupils can use the website/platform for discussions, questions and answers, other information and to collect words for a dictionary

MORE

Central part:

Pupils collect their knowledge in the portfolio, they planned what they like to learn.

Children work independent or together on their portfolio, they can collect information by internet, using the website/platform, e-mail, library etc.

Central part: evaluation and reflection about the learning process. Discussion about the portfolio’s.

In the basic part all the pupils work together with the theme and make materials: calendar, CD-rom, video, drawings etc. In part ‘more’ children can work alone or together on their own level and plan their own learning-process. We stimulate relationship, self responsibility, independent work and reflection.
